A happy hello to returning players and families and warm welcome to all the new athletes and their families. Your willingness to become involved and committed to the University of Idaho Men’s Lacrosse Club is vital and appreciated!
I’m ecstatic to report that Vandal Lacrosse will ‘restart’ with Fall Ball to begin the 2021-22 season! Though Covid-19 brought our program to a standstill, we plan to return with a vengeance and with a team of new and eager Vandals. I, for one, am incredibly thankful to be back to playing and coaching the game we all love.
Nearly two seasons without playing a competitive game ends this Fall. The turnout for the first two weeks of practice has been great, and our roster has the potential be the largest since our last playoff appearance in 2015! We have six returning players from 2020 team, six from 2021 team and 12 Freshman, coming to U of I from CA, NV, OR, WA, PA, and many, of course, home grown in ID. I’m excited for this group of energetic and positive group of young men and look forward to a fun season!
PLEASE, plan on coming to cheer on this enthusiastic team in Missoula, Montana for the Montana Shoot-out Tournament, October 23-24 – our first action in 595 days! I am eager to reconnect in person, meet and welcome new faces. Trip details to follow very soon (via email to parents, players, and families).
Right now, though, we need your help with two urgent issues.
In order to meet anticipated spring season expenses without increasing player dues, we will need to fundraise a minimum of $10,000. The Board has been discussing options and welcomes your suggestions and assistance in implementation.
The Board positions of Chairperson and Treasurer are vacant and must be filled to satisfy requirements for our nonprofit status. Please consider serving in one of these positions. Mentoring by past Chairpersons and the outgoing Treasurer is available.
It would be awesome for every family to contribute or support in whatever way you are able, with time, with money, or with both! Don’t hesitate to contact me or Board Secretary, Marchell Dolar to offer your help and ideas or if you have questions.
And I urge you to read the following overview of the club, especially the highlighted info regarding the club’s budget, player dues and team gear for the upcoming season.
